OUR HISTORY
To commence its operations, Eco Natural formed a subsidiary company called Eco Petroleum Limited and secured a Bulk Distribution Company Licensed to enable it import refined petroleum products into the Ghanaian market.
For the period 2010 to 2012, Eco Petroleum had a very successful operation growing to become the fourth largest importer in the country. The dynamics of the industry changed in 2013. A large number of new players entered the market, competition intensified, margins collapsed, currency depreciation increased risk and receivables from Government grew to unsustainable levels. At this point, Eco Natural made a strategic decision to concentrate on the up and midstream sectors rather than the trading of petroleum products and thus sold the company (Eco Petroleum) to one of its competitors.
In 2010, Eco Natural collaborated with Champion Technologies of Aberdeen, Scotland to tender for the supply of production chemicals for Jubilee field phase 1. Subsequent to that tender, Eco Natural/Champion Technologies have laid the foundation to become the preferred partner for the procurement of chemical supplies and handling services for the Ghanaian oil and gas upstream sector. To raise the level of local content and commence the process of technology transfer to Ghana, Champion Technologies/Eco Natural recruited four first class Ghanaian chemistry graduates from the nation’s top universities and provided them with intensive training in production chemical services in a number of oil & gas producing countries including Libya, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria. Two out of the four trainees left to undertake Masters and PHD programmes while the other two are still working with the partnership. Champion Technologies, through acquisition and merger, is now an Ecolab company known as Nalco Champion.
Eco Natural has undertaken a number of short term corrosion control service contracts with the nation’s premier gas processing plant owners – Ghana National Gas Company, over the short life of the Atuabo plant. This included sand blasting and coating works to pipes and vessels within the processing plant. We have also supplied some chemicals for use in the gas plant (mono ethylene glycol, etc.).
Eco Natural Resources, in collaboration with its partners – Ecolab NL 10 BV – formed and registered a joint venture company: Nalco Champion Ghana Limited (an Ecolab Company) in 2015. This legal entity, operating under the laws of the Republic of Ghana tendered and won a contract with Tullow Ghana Limited for the Provision of Production Chemicals and Management Services for the Jubilee and TEN fields in March 2017 and commenced work on June 01, 2017. Eco Natural has been supplying chemical commodities, some fixed assets, equipment and services to the JV company.
